Sustainability and Environmental Statement

At McNae Group, we acknowledge that humanity's historical disregard for the environment, especially since the onset of industrialization, has had adverse effects on our surroundings. We recognize that our own practices may contribute to this harm, albeit unintentionally. However, we now possess a greater awareness of how our actions can negatively impact the environment.

Therefore, our commitment is clear: to minimize harm and strive for continuous improvement. We believe that every positive action we take or negative action we refrain from, with regard to our broader surroundings, is a step in the right direction.

While our business primarily operates in the renewables industry, we have identified three key areas that require ongoing improvement: transport, materials usage, and waste management.

Transport: One of our significant challenges is finding suitable lower emission vehicles. While electric vehicles (EVs) are an obvious choice, their limitations in terms of payload, towing capacity, and range pose considerable difficulties. As we replace our fleet, we are actively upgrading to EVs or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) wherever feasible. In cases where EVs or PHEVs are not suitable, we will seek out technologically advanced vehicles with lower emissions.

Material Supplies and Supply Chain: Finding sustainable manufacturing and supply chain partners is an incremental process that we prioritize. We place great importance on ensuring that our products and suppliers adhere to ethical and sustainable practices. This extends to the environment, including its natural resources, as well as the fair treatment of human resources involved in material extraction and product manufacturing.

Waste Management: Our primary objective in waste management is to minimize landfill waste. We achieve this through two main strategies. Firstly, we separate recyclable cardboard and plastic products from our general waste stream for recycling. Secondly, we send all metal waste to metal recyclers, ensuring optimal sorting for maximum returns. Since implementing these practices in early 2015, we have successfully reduced landfill waste by over 60%. Nevertheless, we acknowledge that there is room for improvement, particularly in addressing the use and disposal of polystyrene, which remains a challenging waste product for us.

By addressing these areas and continually seeking opportunities to enhance our sustainability practices, we strive to contribute positively to the environment and create a more sustainable future.
